Campaign Finance Law

Our Firm helps form political organizations that meet your goals and then works with you to meet your ongoing campaign finance requirements. The Firm provides general counsel services to candidate committees, as well as to political committees and Super PACs, and has extensive experience in advising clients regarding federal, state, and local campaign finance law. The Firm also advises labor unions, corporations, 501(c)(4)s and other nonprofits active in nationwide political campaigns on campaign finance requirements, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of candidate assistance and independent expenditure campaigns. In addition, general legal services are provided to all political organizations concerning such matters as drafting and review of contracts and leases, employment law, and internal governance issues. The Firm also assists individual political donors and activists in navigating their campaign participation and compliance with applicable laws. With all clients, our attorneys have specific expertise assisting with timely compliance with disclosure requirements, while avoiding and mitigating reputational risks and harm through media coverage of disclosure reports.

Nonprofit Law

The Firm provides goal-oriented counsel to nonprofits at all stages, from entity establishment and application for tax-exempt status to on-going advice regarding the complexities of nonprofit law. The Firm has exceptional expertise for those nonprofits that engage in the political and ballot initiative processes on a nationwide progressive mission and assists them with compliance under campaign finance and other applicable laws. The Firm can, in addition, offer a wide range of outside counsel services to nonprofits including political law guidance and compliance services for filing disclosure reports and IRS forms, as well as providing advice on contract negotiations, employment law, organizational governance issues, and other matters that arise.

Ethics Law

The Firm has a wide range of experience in advising clients on governmental ethics and lobbying disclosure. In addition, the Firm has significant experience providing advice to clients around compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act and analogous state lobbying laws.
