Eric Kleinfeld is a founding Partner at Utrecht, Kleinfeld, Fiori, Clark, Partners.  He practices in the areas of political and government ethics law, providing advice on federal, state, and local election, campaign finance, governmental ethics, tax exempt, and nonprofit laws. His clients include presidential, senate, and congressional candidates, campaign committees, multi-candidate, hybrid and Super PACs, nonprofits, labor unions, corporations, membership organizations, ballot measures, and individuals. He has represented numerous clients with nationwide political compliance needs and has successfully defended cases before the Federal Election Commission, Senate and House Ethics Committees, and state election commissions.

Mr. Kleinfeld was Chief Counsel to the presidential campaigns of Hillary Clinton, Howard Dean, Al Gore, Jay Inslee, and for the 1996 Clinton/Gore re-election campaign. He has advised other presidential, Senate, and House campaigns, including the re-election campaigns of Senator Maria Cantwell and former Senator Hillary Clinton. From 1991 to 1993, Mr. Kleinfeld was counsel to the Elections Subcommittee and the Task Force on Campaign Finance Reform of the U.S. House of Representatives, and in 1993, he became General Counsel to the Committee on House Administration. Mr. Kleinfeld was the lead House staff on The National Voter Registration Act ("Motor Voter"), signed into law in 1993. 

Prior to his congressional work, from 1987 to 1991, Mr. Kleinfeld was an associate at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, where he served as Deputy Counsel to the Biden for President campaign and as outside counsel to House Speaker Jim Wright. Mr. Kleinfeld began his career in 1984 as a staff attorney at the Federal Election Commission. 

Mr. Kleinfeld graduated from Miami University, cum laude, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University, where he graduated with Honors in Law. Mr. Kleinfeld is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and is a member of the American and District of Columbia Bar Associations. From 2005 to 2009, he served as an At-Large Member of the Democratic National Committee.
